JibJab

I took a(nother) page out of Niki's book, and made a video of baby Levi saying some of his favorite words!  And by favorite, I mean the ones most easy to catch on video.  There are two takes spliced together to get you the full experience.
He's no Piper, but baby boys speak later and slower than baby girls.  It's so cute to see him learn.  He's not very interested in repeating what you say to him, but he'll say the word when he sees the object.

Yay for my little jibber-jabberer!

Sunshine State

Beach day this morning with our mom and baby friends!
I forgot to bring my camera this morning, so this pic is from a few weeks ago.

It was pretty windy, but the sun was out and the temperature was beautiful.  While his buddies played around him, baby Levi got entranced by the waves and just sat there staring out at them.

I'm so happy to be raising a Florida boy!

This Kid Is Not Related To Me

This little guy does NOT like to eat.  Crazy, right?
Don't make me!

Some days it makes me really really crazy.  And so frustrated!  But then I talk to my mom-friends with toddlers the same age, and it sounds like lots of them are going through the exact same thing.

When he's 14 years old and eating me out of house and home, I will look back on these days and laugh!

A Tisket, A Tasket...

I've been slacking on my blog posts!  Sorry peeps.

I wanted to write a really cute, funny post to make up for my laziness, but we haven't been up to anything too interesting, so there's only our daily nonesense to report on.

We spent the morning at the library today.  They have some really cute kid-size adirondack chairs.

Of course, baby Levi being a toddler, and a boy, and a Levi, he had just as much fun sitting in the shopping basket as the beautiful, handmade chairs.
PS -- Don't get me started on what that left hand is up to.  Boys!!

Next Week, the Butterfly!

Baby Levi started his first swim lessons this week!
And yes, he was required to wear that swim cap.

We're in a mommy-and-me swim class that teaches him to float on his back, go underwater, and do a little bit of arm paddling.
I didn't have very high expectations for our first class, but he did great!  No crying at all.  He didn't learn all the techniques in that first class (especially floating on his back), but I'm confident he'll get there.
Trying to flip back onto his belly.

Hanging on to mama's face.
There were supposed to be three other babies in the class with us, but none of them showed up.  We got a little private tutoring!
Working with our instructor and his creepy doll baby.

The last five minutes of class is play time.  One of baby Levi's favorite words right now is "ball," so he got a whole pool full of balls to play with.

So proud of my big guy!

Levi & Brooke 4-Eva

What a fun long weekend we had!  Extra long, in fact.  Friday, Levi took off work and we joined our stake for a temple trip to Orlando.  On Saturday our friends Jenny and Tom (and baby Brooke!) flew in from DC to stay until Tuesday.

We were supposed to have fun in the sun, but unfortunately the weather did not cooperate.  So we had fun in the clouds instead.

Jenny, baby Brooke, and baby Levi
We did two short scuba dives, took advantage of the Marriott's awesome amenities, swam in the pool, and just enjoyed each other's company.

Baby Brooke got to show off her little white arms and legs for the first time, rocked pink shades and rashguard, and had her first adventure swimming, which included getting dunked underwater!

The splash pad scared him a little.  He didn't like getting sprayed in the face.

Getting ready to catch baby Brooke.

He was so gentle with her.

Baby Levi went swimming too, warmed up in the hot tub, ran around the splash pad, and played on the playground.  He also fell in love with little Brooke.  We're already negotiating the dowry for their future marriage.
Rocking Brooke to sleep (or awake).

She was so teeny she didn't even fit in her jammies.

Baby Levi also got to play ping-pong doubles with Dad and Tom.

We had such a great time with our friends!  Next we're gearing up to meet them in Paris for "Babies Take Over Europe 2013."  I don't know if the EU can handle this much cuteness.

Boxes are a Boy's Best Friend

Our new couch was delivered today!!  Yay!  It's from Ikea, so it came in three gigantic boxes.  Baby Levi was in boy-fort heaven.

Yes, he is half-dressed and has chicken parm all over his mug.  Please don't call DCF on me.

I built the whole dang thing myself.  I'm quite proud.

Adventures in Babysitting

On Friday, the Young Women in our ward held a free babysitting night.  It was too good an offer to pass up.

Can you believe he is 16 months old and this is the first time he's been babysat by someone who isn't a blood relative?

It took a little cajoling to get Levi to agree.  He is a very protective papa bear.  The Young Women's President made a special plea to him, because there were no other kids signed up!

Baby Levi had a great time.  There were about four other kids who did end up coming, and he loved running around with them.  I don't even think he noticed that we were gone.  And the YW adored him!  This was one of the girl's Facebook status on Friday night:

had so much fun last night baby sitting :) i love baby levi ♥ he is growing up too fast. i still remember when he was born :')

Awww!

Who Is the Fairest of Them All?

I read recently that at this age toddlers start to learn that they are separate people from their parents.  I can believe that, because baby Levi is spending a lot more time looking at himself in the mirror lately.
He makes funny faces at himself and cracks up, he pats his belly, he finger-combs his hair.  It's really fun to watch.

Cinderelly, Cinderelly

A certain someone likes his crayons, which leads to a certain someone drawing with them on the walls, the sliding doors, the tile, etc.  When that happens, he has to clean it up himself.

Haha, I wish.  What actually happens is that he loves to copy everything I do, so when I start to clean something he wants to take over.
I could get used to this.  Baby girls, take note.  I'm raising a man who will do housework!!

Hipster Style

Baby Levi loves loves loves to put Mr. Potato Head's glasses on his own face and walk around the house.

Maybe tomorrow I'll post about his choice in hats........
