Big Boy

Levi J. had his two-year appointment at the pediatrician today. I love going to his pediatrician appointments.  There's something incredibly exciting about seeing his growth and progress mapped out from the day he was born!

He is now 30 pounds and 37 inches tall. That puts him in the 75th percentile for weight and over the 95th percentile for height. Impressive!  The doctor was also very impressed by his ability to read letters and numbers. We spent a lot of time with her getting advice on everything from potty training and weaning to preschool. She wants Levi J. to see a pediatric orthopedic. It looks as though there is some asymmetry in his hips. She thinks it's nothing, but we'll go get it checked out just in case.

He survived two shots and a blood draw from his finger. Now no more shots until kindergarten!

Oh yeah, and he wore the shades for just about the entire checkup. The whole staff was cracking up.

Photo is Rated NC-17

It's a bloodbath!! Or an incident with some red food coloring left too close to the edge of the countertop. Oops, bad mama. ;)

Always Be My Baby

My baby is TWO today!  And, unlike last year, he just loved the attention he got today on his birthday.  He got to tell everyone he saw that he is two, and held up his two little fingers, crossed for some reason, to show them.

He got up early and got to open his presents from his grandmas.  He loved ripping into that wrapping paper.  He got a whole trove of Elmo presents from Grandma Sherrie, and some wooden trucks and books from Gramms.  Every single present was a hit; those women know him very well.

Looking a little dazed and sleepy still.

Elmo!  He would hold up the fork and spoon and say "One two one two one two Elmo!"

Gone are the days when mom had to open his presents for him.

Reading his card from Aunt KyKy, Uncle Paul, and Peyton

He loves these little wooden trucks from Gramms.

Levi and I got him a tricycle for his birthday gift!  He is all boy, just obsessed with anything that has wheels.  He just loves the trike.  He hasn't quite got pedaling yet, but he's got his feet on the pedals, and will put his feet down to push the trike around.  I don't think it will be too long before he figures it out.

I just love this picture.  And he looks so blonde!

I thought I might enjoy giving him the trike more than he would actually enjoy riding it, but no, he is head over heels for it.  And it only cost me $8!

Some friends came over for a playdate today, which was a little rocky.  He was not cool with sharing some of his new toys, his tricycle in particular.  There was a pretty big meltdown, timeout in the crib, etc etc.  But it ended well!  With lunch, of course.

This was the caption Izzy's mom put on the pics: "She can hang with the boys just fine #offroading #oneoftheguys"  Ha!

Feliz cumpleanos!
Starting a band.

I *thought* that maybe for Levi J.'s birthday I would try to say yes to any requests he made.  That lasted as long as two Curious George episodes and three juice boxes.  Ha.  At least he liked his presents.

We'll be celebrating big in a week and a half (28 "Yes" RSVPs!), but I'm glad that today got to be a special day for my baby, too.  Because, yes, he will always be my baby!

Sun, Water, and Rock

I've been having phone problems, which in my household also means I've been having internet problems, since I only have internet by tethering with the phone.  So I've been completely cut off from the outside world when home.

But!  I have a new phone, so I'm back online.

I am so tired and dying to close my peepers, but here's a little bit about our weekend.

We *finally* have friends with a boat!  I would have thought that would be easier in Florida, but this is actually the first time we have been out on a friend's boat here.  It was fantastic.  Although I got way too much sun.

A pair of Levis in the driver's seat

Boat nap.  Don't worry, I shielded his face from the sun when I wasn't taking his picture.

More boat naps (Sara and Liam)

Loving life

I look old in this picture.  But in kind of a vintage way that I don't mind too much.

We saw a guy run his boat into the dock and, firstly, almost jump the boat over the dock, and when that didn't happen, almost flip his boat upside down.  Not on purpose.  It looked like something out of a movie.

After the boat, Levi went to priesthood session of stake conference, and then we went to Miami for the Killers concert!

We had awesome seats!

Thank you, John, for the birthday present!  The concert was amazing, although I am getting too old for concerts.  Even though I was having fun, I couldn't stop yawning.  Maybe I am only too old for concerts that start after 9pm.  But they played all the great songs and it was really fun.

Lexi and Ale watched Levi J, and he was an angel for them and a devil for us.  We spent the night at their place in Miami, and even before I knocked on their door after the concert he was awake and crying.  We didn't get to sleep until after 1am, with him in the bed (which is super cute but also not very restful).  And then he was up for the day at 6 am.  Which is why this blog post is not very well written.  I just want to get something on here so the sandman can do his magic on me (I seriously almost spelled magic with a "j.")

Like I said, I'm too old for these shenanigans.

Good night cyberspace!

All Aboard!

Today we went on an excursion with our playgroup.  The kids are all obsessed with "choo choos," so we took a ride on a train!  We rode the local commuter train, called the Tri-Rail.

The kids were bananas for the train.  They couldn't stop saying, "choo choo!" the whole ride.

You can actually see River saying the words, "choo choo!"

Unfortunately their enthusiasm did not last the entire ride, and when they saw the moms with their cellphones out (for picture taking), they all demanded electronics for the last bit of the ride.

We rode the train for almost an hour to Ft. Lauderdale.  We then had to wait over an hour to catch the train back, so we went to Bass Pro Shop, which was right by the station.
Right next door was the International Fishing Hall of Fame.

Well it is Shark Week, isn't it?

We checked out the aquariums, got roped into a timeshare pitch, then had lunch before hopping on the train again.
Scoping out the boats for Dada.

Whoa!  Big fish.

Just about as big as Levi J.

And one of the highlights of Bass Pro Shop was the awesome shopping cart.  They had to take turns "driving," while mom was actually the one lugging their bums around in that tank.  Whew!

Levi and River

Levi and Orion

It was such a fun trip!  I never would have thought to make a day out of a commuter train ride, but it was a great time.  On to a fun-filled weekend!

Mama's Boy

Big Levi has been extra-busy lately both at work and at church, so Levi J. and I have been spending extra time just the two of us!
It seriously won't be long before he's in school, so I'm trying to cherish every day we have one-on-one.

This is exactly what I look like at the pool.
Sunnies?  Check.  Kindle?  Check.  Floaties?  Check.  I've taught him well.

Coppertone Baby

It has been so blazing HOT here the last few days.  We've been trying everything to beat the heat.
More nakey bum pics!
